Position/Job Summary: 

The Student Success Coach serves as a mentor for undergraduate nursing students throughout their respective program.  The Success Coach can be accessed directly by the student or through faculty referral.  The primary focus of the Success Coach is supporting students through collaboration with Nursing Faculty, Academic Advising, Health and Wellness, and Learning Support services.  The Student Success Coach inspires, motivates, mentors, and challenges students to excel in academic performance.  The Student Success Coach promotes a positive and successful learning experience for students in an effort to increase student retention, success, and degree completion.  Integral aspects of the position include implementation of the College’s philosophy through student support and collaboration with faculty and staff. This is a 10.5 month position (fulltime).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (ability to perform with or without reasonable accommodations)

  • Promotes and contributes to the enhancement of PA College’s high performing learner-centered environment.   
  • Supports enrollment and retention while promoting high-quality learning in accordance with policies and procedures; federal, state, and regional regulatory requirements; and accreditation standards. 
  • Works with individual students to identify barriers to performance such as finances, time management, and social support. 
  • Works with the student to address academic concerns such as test taking strategies, study skills, and class preparation as well as managing a holistic view of the student’s educational journey.
  • Assists students with goal setting, provide ongoing communication, and follow-up on goal attainment.
  • Maintains flexible work hours to meet the needs of students (including evening hours).
  • Maintains and evaluates data on use of student resources in collaboration with Department of Undergraduate Nursing and Department of Institutional Effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates service to the College, profession, and/or community.
  • Assists in the daily operations as instructed by their supervisor.
  • Model’s professional values in support of the mission, vision, educational outcomes, and strategic direction of the College.
  • Performs other duties that may be in the best interest of the College as requested by Academic leadership.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in faculty meetings and College committees, as appropriate.
  • Provides service to the College.
  • In collaboration with supervisor, identifies goals in relation to professional development.

Education Requirements:

  • Specific Education, Certifications, and Licensure:
  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current RN license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully…

  • Must have at least one year of recent clinical practice experience and/or higher education experience.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with students.
