Full-time, 1.0 , 80 hr per two weeks working hours between 12:30 pm and 11:00pm with every other weekend and holiday. Located in the main pharmacy at Lancaster General Hospital.

SUMMARY: Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine is currently seeking a Pharmacy Technician for Lancaster General Hospital. The Pharmacy tech under the direction and supervision of a registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician performs various functions associated with the dispensing, charging and delivery of medication to patient care areas, in compliance with department policies and procedures that provide optimal pharmaceutical care. Pharmacy tech certification required within 6 months. IV admix experience preferred.
Prepares medications for dispensing under the supervision of the pharmacist, demonstrating accuracy, precision, and consistency relating to selection, packaging, and labeling functions.
Transports medications, drug-delivery devices, and other pharmacy equipment as required, to all patient care areas of the hospital, which includes delivery to automated dispensing technology.
Retrieves physician orders, automated medication administration records, and unused medications from the nursing units and returns them to the pharmacy.
Prepare inventories (affix barcode/warning labels as necessary), order drugs and supplies from the storeroom; receive drugs and stock shelves in various pharmacy locations.
Efficiently utilizes various pharmacy automation systems including robotic packaging, automated storage and retrieval systems, decentralized unit-based cabinets, and compounding equipment
Maintains integrity of IV admixture compounding area. Properly cleans and disinfects laminar flow cabinets, countertops, and equipment as required.
- High school diploma or successful completion of general educational development (GED) exam required.
- National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) required within 9 months of hire
- Completion of ASHP accredited (or comparable) pharmacy technician training program preferred.
- A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid , and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e.
Not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.
- Hospital pharmacy practice experience
This position requires a Professional License/Certification.
