1.0 FTE 6:30am - 3:00 pm

Job Description

Location: Lancaster, PA

Hours: Full-Time (40 hours p/week), Monday-Friday

POSITION SUMMARY: Sorts and distributes mail throughout the hospital.  Prepares all outgoing mail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Sorts all incoming mail for proper delivery.

  • Sort, deliver and pick up mail from all departments throughout the Hospital.

  • Prepares all mail for mailing.

  • Replenishes the postage meter.

  • Responsible for maintaining mailroom equipment and calling repairman as needed.  Make follow-up calls as appropriate.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Responsible for keeping an up-to-date knowledge of the current postal service requirements and recommend ways for the Hospital to control costs.

  • Responsible for pneumatic station in mailroom.

  • Maintains measurement of incoming and outgoing mail for informational purposes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Hospital requires a high school diploma for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year previous hospital experience.

EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUIREMENTS

Equipment/Tools: telephone, calculator, postage stuffer and folder, postage meter, postage sealer, scale

Software:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting: Degree of physical exertion is:

Moderate, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
