Summary

The Magnet Program Manager serves as the coordinator for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program at Lancaster General Health. Responsible for ensuring the professional advancement of nursing excellence. Supports and mentors nursing shared governance and nursing leadership advancement programs. Promotes the professional image of Nursing, while ensuring inter-professional collaboration to ensure the delivery of high quality clinical care.  Serves to promote Relationship Based Care as the nursing model of care, and ensures the department of nursing works to support the organization’s mission and vision.  

Job Description

Full-time 1.0 FTE (40 hrs/week); Mon-Fri; day shift; no weekends; no holidays

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Assumes oversight for ensuring standards required for the Magnet Recognition Program are met and sustained. Ensures timely submission of required data to ANCC Magnet Recognition Program.
  • Leads Lancaster General Health through Magnet re-designation every 4 years, including document and site visit preparation.
  • Develops and implements plans and processes to support ongoing and proactive Magnet preparation in-between site visits
  • Performs assessment of Magnet gap analysis and proposes action plans for identified gaps.
  • Serves as a mentor and coach for nursing shared governance councils and the clinical nurse leaders involved.
  •  Facilitates nursing leadership understanding and integration of professional and regulatory standards, including ANCC Magnet standards into nursing practice.
  • Supports professional development of nurses through promotion of specialty certification and advanced nursing degrees.
  • Provides leadership, knowledge and resources to the Magnet Champions, in conjunction with the co-chairs and manager liaisons.
  • Track and share data related to national certification rates for nursing staff and ownership of the Success Pays program
  • Works collaboratively with the Directors of Nursing to ensure coordination and submission of nursing data submission requirements, such as NDNQI.
  • Serves as NDNQI Primary Coordinator/Administrator in collaboration with the Business Intelligence Analyst
  • Leads NDNQI or similar RN Satisfaction Survey preparation and administration
  • Collaborates with all Penn Medicine Magnet Program Directors and Coordinators
  • Evaluates the organization’s nursing outcomes and makes recommendations based on up to date Magnet standards.
  • Assist with the development of action plans surrounding benchmarking and quality/safety nurse sensitive indicators as well as disseminating this information to nursing staff at all levels.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.     
  • Master of Science in Nursing Degree required.
  • Three (3) years of nursing leadership, nursing management, or other relevant experience
  • Five (5) years of clinical experience.
  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership role in nursing shared governance council
  • Assist with Magnet document submission
