POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision, the Interface Analyst develops and supports HL7 real time, batch, point to point, and device interfaces between the Hospital Information System (HIS) and downstream ancillary applications and bed side devices using LG’s interface engine(s) and other data delivery tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Takes requests for new or modified changes from users or electronic ticketing system (receives assistance to identify scope, create business requirements, user specifications and coordinates programming changes with ancillary systems).
  • Troubleshoots simple to moderate issues from users.
  • Assist in developing and executing test plans to support requests and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinates system installations with end users, ancillary vendors, and IT staff.
  • Execution of project deliverables/tasks.
  • Support Operations and user areas in resolving interface issues.
  • Provides daily support and monitoring to ensure application(s) is/are functioning correctly and efficiently.
  • On-Call support during core day hours, after hours and weekends (rotation of duties).
  • Complies with implementation, operational support and change control policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with LG, department and team standards  (technical, coding, naming conventions).
  • Executes and/or monitors system and ancillary systems during maintenance and downtime.
  • Provide appropriate issue escalation to peers or Manager.
  • Documents downtime and other application related metrics.
  • Responsible to ensure that system documentation is kept current and appropriate staff notified.
  • Leverages customer or peer input to improve system and processes.
  • Responsible to accurately report and record project time.
  • Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in computer science or approved equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Epic Certifications as required by Information Services to support the business.  Certification will be offered and provided by LGH and must be obtained within 6 months of role entry and within three (3) exam attempts.
  • Two (2) years of programming experience.
  • Critical thinking and an analytical mind.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possession of sharp teamwork/partnering skills.
  • Experience working with Clinical areas to develop interfaces.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional experience in HL7 knowledge.
  • Experience in healthcare and knowledge of medical terminology and workflow.
  • Project management experience and skills.
