Summary

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for processing Financial Assistance Applications.  Serve as a resource for the patient financial service department customer service team in regards to financial assistance. Make adjustments to patient accounts. Maintain policies and procedures and provide training as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Reviews financial assistance applications and documents for completeness and accuracy, contacting customer as appropriate.
  • Makes recommendations to management regarding approvals and denials.
  • Adjusts patient’s accounts appropriately.
  • Serves as the primary financial assistance resource for team member.
  • Provides financial assistance training to internal and external customers.
  • Handles escalated customer complaint calls in a professional manner.
  • Keeps the lines of communication open with the team and disseminates appropriate information in a timely manner.
  • Assists Customer Service team in resolving financial assistance issues.
  • Tracks and monitors trends, reporting to management on a regular basis.
  • Develops creative solutions and workflow for processing financial assistance applications.
  • Maintains and manages policies and procedures.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Processes and follows special accounts for resolution.
  • Assists with compiling information for monthly management reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) – two (2) years customer service experience
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree
  • Knowledge of EPIC
