Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is hiring cafeteria workers to staff our newly renovated and state-of-the-art Central Eatery and various cafeterias in the Lancaster area. Cafeteria worker positions offer sign on bonuses up to $1,000. Eligibility rules apply. Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assists customers and maintains a pleasant environment.
  • Prepares, portions and serves food and beverages according to established guidelines. This includes washing, cutting, slicing, chopping, baking, grilling, and grating items.
  • Cleans and sanitizes food production areas, cafeteria, and dining room equipment.
  • Maintains adequate supply of self-serve items that are properly displayed.
  • Where applicable, functions as a cashier.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

What We Require for this Role:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Preferred: One (1) year experience in food service industry, including handling food and checking food temperatures, one (1) year experience operating cash register, completion of a sanitation course, experience as a prep cook

Equipment Usage and Physical Requirements of the Role:  

  • Equipment/Tools: cash register, beverage machines, yogurt dispenser, oven, bread bagger, knives, plates, dipper, spatula, tongs, spreader, saran wrap.
  • Lifting: Degree of physical exertion is Moderate, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
