Full time: 40 hrs per week, Mon- Fri typically between the hours of 8 am and 4:30 pm. Schedule Flexibility is mandatory before or after these hours for this position due to it being blood drive driven. On certain days could start as early as 6:00 am or go as late as 9:00 pm. Rare weekend. Located at the Suburban Pavilion in Lancaster, PA.

POSITION SUMMARY: Maintains an adequate supply of blood and blood components throughout the year through on-going donor recruitment from patients, the public, and community organizations.  Establishes effective programs to meet emergency needs.  Motivates potential donors.  Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: adolescent (16 through 18 years), adult (19 through 64 years), and geriatric (65 years and above).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Promote, educate, and motivate the community to donate blood through public speaking, educational programs, school assemblies, health fairs, etc.
  • Serve as a liaison and promote positive relationships between donor groups and Lancaster General Hospital Blood Bank through personal contacts, mailings, etc.
  • Work with the chairperson to organize and schedule mobile blood drives.  Conduct on-site inspection of proposed collection site to determine if specific requirements can be met.
  • Review daily inventory reports and discuss strategy for type-specific shortages with donor center and blood bank supervisors.
  • Coordinate tele-recruitment efforts of Donor Room staff. Make tele-recruitment calls.
  • Schedule and coordinate regional mailings to promote upcoming blood drives.
  • Utilize LGH Bulletin Board to recruit donors within Lancaster General.
  • Plan and coordinate donor/group recognition programs, i.e. banquets, certificates, awards, etc.



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Communication, Marketing or a related field
  • Work experience utilizing public speaking and other communication skills.
