Lancaster General Health

People.  The people of Lancaster are responsive and very reasonable about concerns that are addressed.  Moreover, they are very timely in their response.  It has been a refreshing experience.

I lived here previously and loved the friendly people and the beautiful environment.

I came to Lancaster because we (my wife, children, and I) love this community.  Many of our friends are in Lancaster County or toward Hershey.  I have also known for years that LG Health would be a great organization to join.

There are so many great places to eat in Lancaster!

I came to college in Lancaster and have loved it ever since.  It provides a nice combination of history, culture and community.  It has been a wonderful place to raise our children.

I love driving through the farms and buying produce by the side of the road.  Yet we have the cultural benefits of Lancaster City and the local colleges/universities.  If we want more, Philadelphia and New York are an easy train ride away.

In searching for a job I of course contacted people who mentored me along my educational journey, one of them being Dr. Daniel Weber. Dr. Weber, a fellow F&M alum, was my mentor in undergrad and allowed me to shadow him in the hospital while I was in college. In discussing what I was looking for in a position and what work scenario would be my dream job he astutely pointed out the LGH had exactly what I was looking for. I am so excited to be returning to the Lancaster community, joining my mentor and the wonderful team at Women’s and Babies and reconnecting with the Franklin & Marshall community.

I have re-discovered the outlets on Route 30. It is very hard to drive past Tanger and Rockvale outlets without stopping.

As I was looking for jobs, I did get the opportunity to work with a private practice in the Lancaster area after completing residency.

Good suburban lifestyle, plenty of natural beauty, great Indian and Thai food, amazing people.

My husband and I wanted to move back to Pennsylvania after he completed military commitment with the Air Force to be closer to our families.  After spending four years in Hershey for medical school, we knew that central Pennsylvania offered the type of lifestyle we were seeking. Lancaster was a perfect choice for us with a great medical community, beautiful countryside, and easy driving distance to our families. I love spending time in the outdoors and look forward to exploring more of this area of PA!

Although we are Pennsylvania natives, we moved to Lancaster from California (my husband was stationed at Travis Air Force Base), where we were spoiled with amazing produce year-round. I have been pleasantly surprised with the availability of locally-grown produce from the nearby farms...particularly at Central Market. Carmen and David's ice cream (particularly the Lemon Ginger Cookie flavor) is a great treat and my husband and I have discovered some yummy Thai food downtown as well! Finally, I have found that I have many friends from college and medical school that live in area; it has been great to reconnect with them.

My wife and I wanted to move back to PA once I finished my military commitment to be closer to our families.  After considering a few options throughout the state, Lancaster provided the best mix in terms of lifestyle, practice opportunity, and community.

The markets in Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, Central Market, Carmen and David's ice cream and Penn Cinema.

Pennsylvania is beautiful and rich with opportunities. Central Pennsylvania is a diverse community that I've found to be warm and nurturing. The hospital is committed to improvement and its dedication to the city and area fosters a sense that if one benefits, grows, moves forward, the other does as well.

We make new and interesting discoveries on a weekly, almost daily basis. People from Lancaster have ties across the globe and enrich their naturally welcoming area with good foods, festivals and ideas into their commitment to their home. We love Central Market as well as Expressly Local, the Fulton Opera House and the children's reading hour at the Library in Overlook. We enjoy hot cocoa at Prince Street Café and ice cream at the Strasburg Creamery. Lancaster is delightful and my family and I are very happy to call it our new home. I've enjoyed bike riding through the rolling hills of Leola and hiking out over the river at Chickies Rock Park.
