Lancaster General Health has received several local, state and national honors for its clinical excellence and operational performance. Below is a list of some of the awards and recognitions we have received and share with our community.

  • Magnet Recognition - 2011
    Lancaster General Hospital attained Magnet® recognition for the third time as part of the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. This voluntary credentialing program for hospitals recognizes excellence in nursing and is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice.
  • U.S. News & World Report - 2011
    Ranked Lancaster General Hospital as a "high-performing" hospital in the Lancaster metro region for the care of Diabetes & Endocrinology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Orthopedics and Urology.
  • U.S. News Top Doctors - 2011/12
    U.S. News Media Group released its list of "U.S. News Top Doctors," which includes 11 physicians on the Medical Dental Staff of Lancaster General Hospital.
  • Lancaster General Health's Heart Center - 2011
    Recognized for excellence in cardiac care by HealthGrades, U.S. News, and USA Today, which noted our Heart Center ranked 3rd in the country for heart-failure readmissions, and 1st in Pennsylvania for heart attack readmissions.
  • VPP Star - 2011
    Lancaster General Hospital was recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) with VPP (Voluntary Protection Programs) Star Status. This is the second time LGH received this designation which recognizes employers who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for their respective industries.
  • ENERGY STAR - 2010/11
    ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Facilities, like Lancaster General Hospital, that have achieved Energy Star are known to be energy efficient and leave a smaller carbon footprint.
  • "Great Colleges to Work For" - 2011
    Presented to Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences by The Chronicle of Higher Education. The Chronicle identified 12 features of excellent academic workplaces and asked faculty and staff at colleges of all sizes and types from across the country to assess their employers in those terms.
  • Top 100 Integrated Healthcare Networks - 2011/12
    Lancaster General Health ranked 53rd in the 2012 Top 100 Integrated Healthcare Networks, improving over the previous year's 75th place ranking. On a more local level, the health system placed seventh in the northeast region. This improvement is due in part to LG Health's investment in EPIC and its plan to participate in bundled payments.
